Rosh Hashanah & Yom Kippur Services in Tel Aviv | 126 Synagogue

High Holiday Services in Tel Aviv at 126

Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur in Tel Aviv hit differently. The city gets a little quieter, the humidity breaks, and everyone is looking for a place to just be. Whether you grew up doing this or it is your first time stepping into a synagogue, you have a spot at 126.

The chazanim leading the services are all regulars in the community. They know how to bring the right energy. Expect plenty of singing to the classic tunes you grew up hearing, whether you are from Israel or the Diaspora.

We hold services for all the tefilot. Don’t stress about bringing a book. We provide machzorim (High Holiday prayer books) for both Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.

Getting Ready: Slichot in Tel-Aviv

First Night of Slichot

The Saturday night before Rosh Hashanah marks the beginning of Slichot. Join us for the First Night of Slichot at 23:30, one of the most meaningful and well-attended services of the year as we begin preparing for the High Holidays together.

Slichot are late-night and early-morning prayers of reflection that help us prepare for the new year. Starting with the First Night of Slichot, we hold services twice a day at 126:

06:45
Slichot, followed by Shacharit (morning services).
23:00
Arvit (evening services), followed by Slichot.

Looking for daily Sephardi Slichot services? Rabbi Aryeh Levin leads a daily Sephardi Slichot minyan at Yechezkel Synagogue (2 Arnon Street, Tel Aviv).

07:00 to 09:00
Main Minyan

Kiddush After Torah Reading
Need a quick break? We host a light, 20-minute Kiddush on both days. This happens right after the Torah reading, just before the Shofar and Mussaf.

Shofar Blowing Schedule
We blow the shofar before Mussaf and during the Shmone Esre. Running late? Don’t worry. We do it again at the end of the tefilah for anyone who missed it.

Tashlich at Kikar Atarim, Facing the Mediterranean
On the first day of the holiday, right after Mincha, we head to Kikar Atarim. We do Tashlich outside, facing the beach.

Yom Kippur Tel-Aviv Services

Kol Nidre & Neila Services at Kikar Atarim
This is our massive community event. We only run Kol Nidre and Neila out here. Expect about 2,500 people for Kol Nidre and nearly 5,000 for Neila.

Indoor Yom Kippur Services at 126
We run the full schedule inside the shul. For Kol Nidre and Neila, it’s a more intimate crowd of about 150 people. But heads up. It gets a lot busier for Shacharit and Mussaf since there are no outdoor services during the day.
The morning minyan runs from 08:00 to around 13:45, with Mincha Gedola right after. Yizkor is also inside the shul around 11:00.
As all indoor services fill up fast, you should absolutely reserve a seat in advance

Yom Kippur Honors (Supporting 126)

This is the only time of year we auction off specific honors. It is how we raise funds to keep the lights on and the community running.

Book of Jonah (Maftir Yona)
Available during Mincha. This is for the inside services only
Opening the Ark (Petichat Heichal)
Available for Kol Nidre and Neila. You can bid on this for either the Kikar Atarim or the inside services.

You can make a starting bid early by emailing us at info@by126.org. We also do live bidding in the shul. We auction Kol Nidre at the start of the Erev Yom Kippur services and Neila and Yona right before the Torah reading.

Eve of Yom Kippur & Donations
We hold Mincha Gedola on the eve of Yom Kippur at 13:20. You can make a donation for Hatarat Nedarim and Kaparot anytime from the start of the Aseret Yemei Teshuva (ten days of repentance) through the morning of Erev Yom Kippur and during Mincha Gedola.

If you want to give a nedava (donation) for Yizkor, you can do so right after Yom Kippur ends.
